On November 18th, Facebook announced via an Oculus blog that they would be releasing Myst VR on the Oculus Quest on December 10th, 2020. According to Facebook:

Reimagined and built from the ground up for VR, Myst lets you explore a beautiful island shrouded in mystery and intrigue. With new art, sound, interactions, updated accessibility, and optional puzzle randomization, newcomers and loyal fans alike are in for a treat. Purchase of the game will also include an exclusive Myst-themed Oculus home environment.”

We don’t know much more beyond that quote and the trailer,

The original Myst was a graphic adventure puzzle game designed by Robyn and Rand Miller, initially released for the Macintosh personal computer platform in 1993.

The game’s concept is that players travel to the island of Myst via a magical book. Primarily a puzzle solving game, players would travel to multiple worlds, gradually revealing the backstory of the game’s characters. I remember my mother and uncle playing it, which is not surprising, as prior to the release of The Sims in 2000, it was the highest grossing pc game of all time. While I had never played it myself, I did pick it up at some point while collecting for my Sega Saturn. Just to see what the fuss was about (and give my new Retro-Bit wireless controller a spin), I decided to boot it up and pit my wits against the best puzzles 1993 had to offer.
